Lucas Di Grassi is in the UK for the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The Formula E veteran made history by driving the GEN1 Formula E car in which he won the Formula E World Championship in the 2016–17 season. The Lola Yamaha ABT driver drove the car on the hillclimb at the festival, marking the start of the event, where all four generations of Formula E cars, including the all-new GEN4, are being put to the test in front of motorsport fans for the first time. Di Grassi has now shared his experience from the motorsport festival.
Lucas Di Grassi drives Formula E GEN1 at Goodwood Festival of Speed
A video of Lucas Di Grassi sharing his experience was shared by Lola Yamaha ABT on Instagram. It was shared with the caption: “Going back to where it all began. Lucas drives the GEN1 car up the hill at Goodwood.”Di Grassi said in the video from Goodwood, “Hello everyone, we are here in Goodwood and today I’m not going to be driving the Lola car, I’ll be driving the Gen 1 car. After an amazing victory in Shanghai, I’m going back in time, in nostalgia, to drive the Gen 1, which is the car I won my title with, and Goodwood is the best place to do that.”Making it a memorable and special moment for Formula E, he added, “A lot of classic cars, a lot of history here and now Formula E has history. So before Formula E was so new that it didn’t have history, so now we have history, Lola is part of this history, but today is all about driving this Gen 1 and having fun up the hill.”He also shared a glimpse of the GEN1 car on his Instagram Stories.
Lucas Di Grassi riding high on his Shanghai E-Prix win
Lucas Di Grassi comes fresh from his special win at the recently held Shanghai E-Prix. He claimed victory after starting from the back of the grid.The Lola Yamaha ABT driver was the one to win the first-ever Formula E race in China in 2014 and became the one to win the latest race in China last weekend. He shared the podium with another Formula E veteran, Jean-Eric Vergne, who is now part of Citroen Racing.
