Actor and producer Sohum Shah has officially confirmed Alia Bhatt‘s entry into the world of ‘Tumbbad 2’, making one of the biggest casting announcements for the highly anticipated sequel. The actor unveiled the news through social media by sharing a series of photographs with Alia, welcoming her to the dark fantasy universe that gained cult status with the original film. Alia’s addition comes after the makers previously confirmed Nawazuddin Siddiqui‘s casting.

Sohum Shah took to Instagram to introduce Alia Bhatt as the newest member of the Tumbbad universe. The actor shared a collection of pictures featuring the two against the franchise’s signature red backdrop, hinting at the dark and mysterious world awaiting audiences. Sharing the photographs, Sohum wrote, “A new chapter unfolds. Welcome to #Tumbbad2, @aliaabhatt. #PralayAayega. See you at the movies.”Following the announcement, Alia Bhatt also shared her excitement about joining the sequel. The actress expressed her happiness at becoming part of the immersive world created by the makers. She wrote, “Tumbbad has stayed with me ever since I first watched it. ‘Tumbbad 2’ expands the mythology of Hastar
Earlier this year, the makers also confirmed that Nawazuddin Siddiqui would be joining the sequel, making it another major addition to the cast. His entry was revealed through a special poster, which generated significant discussion among fans of the original film. Directed by Adesh Prasad, Tumbbad 2 will continue exploring the mythology surrounding the cursed deity Hastar. The sequel is expected to build upon the unsettling folklore introduced in the first film while taking audiences deeper into its supernatural world.The makers have scheduled ‘Tumbbad 2’ for a theatrical release on December 3, 2027.Apart from ‘Tumbbad 2’, Alia Bhatt is currently occupied with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Love & War’, where she stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
