This was announced by the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday after hitting Columbus Blue Jackets forward Conor Garland.According to reports, the incident occurred early in the third period of Carolina’s game against Columbus on March 17, when Jarvis struck Garland in the face with his stick. Following the hit, Garland was seen leaving the rink due to heavy bleeding. The player then briefly exited the game for medical attention before returning, and Jarvis was assessed a double-minor penalty on the play.Earlier this week, former American hockey professional and head of the NHL’s Department of Player Safety, George Perros has defended the department’s decision to imposing five-game suspension on Radko Gudas amidst the Auston Matthews controversy.

Carolina Hurricanes’ Seth Jarvis was fined the maximum amount for high-sticking Blue Jackets’ Conor Garland. As per reports, the NHL’s Player Safety Department has imposed a $5,000 fine for a high-sticking incident involving Conor Garland of the Columbus Blue Jackets. The incident occurred during a third-period Tuesday night Metropolitan Division game. Announcing the same, the Player Safety Department stated, “Carolina’s Seth Jarvis has been fined $5,000, the maximum allowable under the CBA, for high-sticking Columbus’ Conor Garland.”According to reports, after battling for the puck near the Columbus blue line, Jarvis whipped around and smacked Garland in the face with his stick. The heavy impact made Garland fall right to the ice, with blood pouring out of his face.Garland required medical attention after he was hit, and he exited the rink smeared with blood all over his face. This prompted Jarvis to receive a double minor for the infraction. This is not the first time that the player has faced a fine. He was previously fined and suspended for his misconduct during a game with Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski.Following the incident, the Hurricanes went on to lose the game 5-1, with Jarvis logging multiple penalty minutes. According to Daily Faceoff, in 59 games this season, Jarvis has scored 28 goals and 25 assists for 53 points, whereas Garland has just been in his sixth game with the Blue Jackets since being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks last week, having already scored four goals with his new team. Besides, the 30-year-old has 11 goals and 19 assists for 30 points in 56 games overall this year.
