Renee Lambert is now facing charges after a youth football game in Fort Myers turned into a tense and messy scene on Saturday. What started as a normal kids’ game at Brooks Park quickly got out of control when a fight broke out between young players. Police say Lambert ran onto the field during the chaos and kicked a child. Officers from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office were already on their way after getting calls about the fight. Within minutes, the focus shifted from the kids to an adult’s actions. Lambert was arrested at the scene and later charged with child abuse without great bodily harm and resisting an officer. The incident, captured on video and later shared by Gulf Coast News, is now raising serious questions about behavior at youth sports events.

According to deputies, things got heated right after a play when players started fighting. That is when Renee Lambert ran onto the field and pushed into the group. Investigators say she kicked one of the young players during that moment. Lambert later told officers that a child had hit her first with a helmet. But after reviewing the video, investigators said they found no proof to support her claim. The situation got worse when officers tried to detain her. In bodycam footage, Lambert is seen trying to walk away while arguing with police. She shouted, “Get your hands off me,” and insisted she was the one who got hit.At one point, she asked officers, “So you’re mad at them for hitting me?” An officer calmly replied, “I’m mad at an adult for attacking a kid.” When officers told her to stop, she refused and said, “No I’m not. Goodbye… get your hands off me.” Officers repeated, “You are being pointed out as being a suspect right now – you’re detained.”Lambert then demanded, “Where’s number nine? Go get number nine,” likely pointing to the player she claimed hit her. One officer responded, “A kid? You’re an adult.” The arrest quickly turned physical as officers worked to control the situation. Speaking later, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said, “It’s sad that children playing sports becomes a physical confrontation. We need to have law and order. We need to protect everyone. So as sheriff, I’m not going to tolerate it.”Booking records show Lambert was taken into custody around 8:50 pm ET. She was released shortly after midnight on Sunday. She is now scheduled to appear in court on June 1. The video of the incident continues to spread online, with many calling out the behavior and stressing the need for adults to set better examples at youth games.
