DHAKA: Bangladesh foreign minister Khalilur Rahman Wednesday emphasised the need to address “some irritations” that exist in Bangladesh-India ties, noting govt is reviewing India’s invitation to PM Tarique Rahman for the Sept Brics Summit in New Delhi.Talking to reporters following a meeting with Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi, he said the neighbhours would move their bilateral relations forward on the basis of sovereign equality, with due consideration for their mutual interests. “We did not talk about any specific issue. There are some irritations. He knows it. I know it, too. It is very important to resolve them. Everyone understands that need,” Khalilur said, in an apparent reference to former PM Sheikh Hasina’s extradition and the alleged issue of “push-backs” on the border.Earlier, Bangladesh PM bypassed India to prioritise a state visit to China, despite an early invitation from PM Modi. The minister, however, said, “Regarding the resetting of relations between the two countries, we have said this before, and we both agree on this issue.”
