Riddhi Dogra recalls suffering from ‘anxiety’ while playing Shah Rukh Khan’s mother in Jawan; says, ‘Atlee told me you’ll become a meme’

Riddhi Dogra, who won many hearts with her time on the recent reality show The 50, opened up about her journey. In a podcast with Pinkvilla, Riddhi spoke about her personal and professional life. She recalled the time she worked with Shah Rukh Khan and how she played his mother in Jawan. While recalling her experience, she shared, “Who, in the right frame of mind, would want to be a mother to Shah Rukh Khan? It was the actor in me. It was the kid in me the 10-year-old kid who first loved Shah Rukh Khan that said, ‘Come on, let’s grab this opportunity.’ You know, I was going to sit with someone who is almost like a role model.”The actress further added, “Now I can say I’ve grown up watching his interviews, and I think I’m half the person I am because of him. All this confidence and this outlook, it’s all come from him. So for me, it was more like… I remember I used to joke back then with Atlee that, ‘Okay, anything to make Shah Rukh look young, I’m with you.’ But besides that, of course, there was a lot of anxiety. I did feel that. Every day, they would make me sit and try to make me look older. By the end of it, Atlee was like, ‘We can’t do it. She’s not looking old. No matter what you do, the eyes are not giving it. She’s not looking old, it’s not going to happen.’”Concluding the same, she said, “That was the whole point. The flavour of the film was such they wanted that. They wanted the audience to question why a young girl is playing an older part. Because then there is a flashback and you see everything. So it was all part of the plan. He even told me, ‘You will become a meme. All this will happen to you.’ But I do feel it comes from security. I am extremely secure.”On the work front, Riddhi Dogra was last seen on the reality show The 50, where she won many hearts.
